Well -- not exactly home, per se, but just the way she is... She reminds him of a girl he might see hanging around at the 7-Eleven parking lot, with dark eyeliner and a badass leather jacket and the kind of attitude that would make him wary of hitting on her because he just knows that she could chew him out in a heartbeat if she so chose. Thalia certainly has a strong personality, which he guesses comes with the territory of being a kid of the Big Three.
And, naturally, that's all why he'd wanted to befriend her so badly. At the very least, he'd worked up the nerve to talk to her a few times here and there, so at least she's not completely unaware of his existence, or so he thinks, anyway.
As usual, though, he's the clueless one. He finds her staring up into the stars one night after a successful (for her team, at least) game of capture-the-flag, looking a little - he doesn't know - melancholy? pensive? something? Ugh, he's terrible at reading girls' facial expressions. The worst. Maybe she's trying to talk to her dad or something. If that's the case, he should probably leave her alone but now he feels super awkward just standing there, like, watching her.
So, clearing of his throat to announce his presence, he says, "Uh, hey Thalia."
So, reuniting with your Roman brother should come as more of a shock, but then again Thalia's spent quite some time living - sort of - as a tree. From tree back to demigod, from demigod to Hunter, she had always known that her would always be filled with twists and turns.
The fall of Rome had some as something of a shock, though with the way the gods and titans are, she isn't surprised about that either. Not really. It leaves her fellow Hunters unsettled and miffed that they must share this space with the other campers, the other boys, but she always reminds them they are all demigods too. It doesn't matter if they're Roman or Greek or sworn against boys - they have to rally together to get shit done.
On one of her long walks before curfew, she hears a voice interrupting her stargazing and she snaps her head around to see the source.
The Hunters' presence has certainly been felt by Johnny. Metaphorically, of course, as pretty much none of the girls would get within ten feet of him without scowling in his direction. Maybe it's the boy thing, maybe it's the Greek thing, he doesn't know. He means well! But, naturally, as a teenaged boy, he can't help but ogling at them every so often. The struggle is most definitely real.
Hm. Jingletown kid. It's a start.
He walks the rest of the way to stand next to her, choosing to look up at the stars that she'd been previously engrossed with.
"You guys -- girls, I mean, kicked serious ass before."
