What would he do? It's hard to say. He loves her unconditionally, despite their stark differences, as only a friend can –- but he simply couldn't be in love with her. It's sad what a difference one word can make. It would quite possibly break his heart just a bit to know the pain he'd been causing her unknowingly.

"It's just. sore. is all," Marius manages, frowning slightly. It's likely that he just has a terribly low pain tolerance, but regardless, he'll set off for Joly's place first thing in the morning.

He'll watch her as she sets off to ready their wine, adding, "I'm all about numbing the pain right about now. Thanks, Eponine."

Stark differences? Well, that's one way to put it. He had everything she'd always wanted and lacked. So, that certainly was a difference right there. And what's stupid is she knows that he can't be in love with her. He has Cosette. He has people that deserve love and adoration. And Eponine doesn't. No way, no how. But she loves him. And she always will. No matter what.

"And bruising and swelling something awful, sure," she says, finishing uncorking the wine. She takes a great pleasure in pouring herself and Marius two glasses, glasses that had been set aside for Cosette, and bringing them over.

"Good. Few people know how to do it better than me." She punctuates this with a sip of the wine. Shit, this is good. So much better than her usual 2 buck chuck. "Well, except maybe Grantaire."
